The owners corporation of this luxury apartment building approached IAM SYSTEMS to solve 2 main issues the residents were having in the building -
The Problem:
- The 4 Basement levels that contained all residents parking and storage areas were all underground, meaning no cellular signal at all.
This wasn't just inconvenient, but could become a safety issue if an elderly resident suffered an injury on any of these levels, who would have no way of calling for help.
In addition to solving the issue of providing signal for mobile phones, large numbers of residents now owned new model vehicles that regularly download software updates to the cars central computer, residents with EV's had vehicle chargers, and smart meters all of which needed internet access. None of this was possible in their underground spaces. - There had been a spate of recent break-ins in the building particularly in the basement levels with intruders attempting to gain access to garages.
The existing Dahua surveillance system was only accessible accessible in the basement comms room on a standalone monitor. Finding relevant footage required someone from the executive committee spending hours in this basement room playing back footage that contained no analysis, until they found the relevant footage. Additionally the existing surveillance system lacked any cameras covering residents garage & visitor spaces.
The Unified Solution:
IAM SYSTEMS designed a solution that utilised the existing cable infrastructure throughout the building, already in-place for the current Dahua Surveillance System, to deploy a building wide managed Ubiquiti Unifi Network, connected to a new NBN Smart Developments Internet Connection.
- Dahua Recording Platform was removed and replaced with Unifi Protect
- All existing Dahua camera's were preserved, connected to the new network and added into Unifi Protect complete with analysis of events.
- New Unifi Protect Cameras deployed on all basement levels providing coverage of all resident garages and visitor spaces with full smart event analysis.
- New Unifi U7 Outdoor Access Points were added on each basement level providing WiFi calling capability for residents, and internet access to connected smart cars, vehicle chargers and smart energy meters in basement levels.
